I will definitely be buying this issue! I did have a laugh about the “special collector’s edition” though!
There are a lot of lovely crochet patterns for bibs. If in danger of drooling, we can put on one of those and drool on crochet with impunity.
All of the wonderful patterns are now in the Rav database. I so can’t wait to pick up my newstand copy. Your contribution is super … and the whole issue deserves serious kudos. Let’s hope they don’t wait another gazillion years before they put out another crochet issue!

I wanted to thank you for including the link for Vogue. I really enjoyed reading the article and all the crochet hints from the designers. I’ve been crocheting at least 60 years…but am loving all the delicate lacy patterns that you and many other designers are making. I think that crocheted garments are more beautiful than ever before. It has also expanded my world as far as yarns are considered. I try not to think about the final cost of a garment when using something like the Noro Silk Garden yarns. They are so beautiful and lovely to work with!
Gorgeous patterns! As you’re an expert crocheter, could you give me your thoughts. I want to start to teach my granddaughter how to knit and crochet … do you have a sense of which is easier (and less frustrating) for a 4 year old to master
Hey Karen,
You might want to start with a different way to play with yarn. I can’t speak for your granddaughter, but most four year olds do not yet have the fine motor skills to be successful or happy at either knit or crochet. Yes, there are prodigies and little ones who just get it really young. But it might not be fun until she has better, more mature skills, know what I’m saying? How about spool knitting? There’s also finger crochet (working chains and stitches without using a hook). Make it fun.

Thank you for your great suggestions. I’ll start her with finger crochet … I’ll have her “crochet” the strap and I’ll crochet a little bag for her or something. I started knitting & crocheting when I was 5 – but that was a Norwegian think, I think. My daughter regularly used to climb up on my lap when she was little and want to “knit” (which she did to some degree or another – I’d just redo it after she went to bed), but the granddaughter has asked that only once. I have two spools I bought at a wool growers event up in Oregon … but I’ll start her with the finger crochet.

Is there any way that I can purchase the pattern for the Easy-Fitting Vest that was designed by you and published in Tahki Stacy Charles Crochet, 2006? I have searched the web for this publication and can not find it anywhere. I would truly appreciate it!
Agreed…but I won’t be really impressed until they call the mag “Vogue Crochet.” ;-> I love the tunic! It’s beautiful!

My first thoughts were…oh I can’t do any of that stuff it is too …too…well too glamorous or nice or something. I realized right there I have been stuck in crocheting for the grandchildren land too long (nothing wrong with that of course) and I need to get into some nice things again!
